Pupil Leaders – Pupil Parliament

Head Pupils

Every year, the children in Year 6 are given the opportunity to become Head Pupils of our school. Any children who want to be considered for this important role are asked to write a letter to the Head & Deputy Teacher to explain why they think they should be chosen. The school, and staff then hold a  vote to elect two Head Pupils for the year ahead.

Being Head Pupil means that you are someone who truly represents the values and attributes of St. Gerard’s. During the year, our Head Pupils will represent our school at a number of events, including visiting other schools within our Academy and  attending special events within our Parish or Academy.

Head Pupils for the 2024-2025 academic year are:

Millie & Archie

Deputy Pupils are:

Elsie & Roman

House Captains

Our House Captains this year are:

St John Fisher: Noah & Isla

Blessed Nicholas Postgate: Harley & Harris

St Thomas More: Alice & Peyton

St Margaret Clitherow: Luke

School Council

Our School Council has a very important job at St. Gerard’s! They are voted in by their peers and play a massive role in improving our school. Our School Council meet regularly to talk about ways in which we can make our school better and help to organise events and activities throughout the year.

Over the last few weeks, our School Council has been visiting the School Council groups at Sacred Heart and St. Clare’s Primary Schools to find out what they have been doing and to see if they can share any good ideas with us!

Our School Council members this year are:

Y3 – Bronson & Oonagh
Y4 – Tommy & Sophia
Y5 – Abbie & Eli
Y6 – Isla & Charlie B

Chaplaincy Team

Our Chaplaincy team and Mini Vinnies are made up of a number of adults and children throughout school, including one of our Parish Priests, Fr Steven and is organised by Mrs Muttrie-Wijesinghe.  They help to arrange any of our charity work and Liturgical Celebrations throughout the year and recently have been busy enhancing our Prayer Room within school and helping to promote our lunchtime prayer group.

Our Chaplaincy Team members this year are:

Y3: Holly & Bradley

Y4: Alice & Esther

Y5: Wealth & George

Y6: Faith & Leo

Our Mini Vinnie members this year are:

Y3: Wonderful & Allie

Y4: Oonagh & Bronson

Y5: Jacob & Aria

Y6: Isaac, Millie & Emilie

Sports Crew

Our Sports Crew are children in Year 6 who help to organise and run a wide range of sporting activities within school. Their role is to support Miss Miller, Mrs Renwick and Mr Rymer in making sure that all of the children in St. Gerard’s develop healthy and active lifestyles.

This year’s sports crew are:

Faith, Gabriella, Noa, Emilie, Eli, Gabriel, Jayden & Louis.

Eco-Warriors

Our Eco-Warriors believe that God is at the heart of everything we do and that therefore, we have to look after everything God has given us, especially our world. Each class, from Y3 to Y6, votes for two eco-warriors who will represent their class in meetings and will promote ways in which we can look after our planet every day.

Over the coming weeks, our Eco-Warriors will be looking at the amount of plastic which is used and wasted in and around school and will be thinking of ways which we can either reuse plastic or reduce the amount being used.

Y3 – Nevaeh and Chidera
Y4 – Reggie and Aubree
Y5 – Esmae & Tommy
Y6 – Holly & Alwin

Buddies

The Years 6 children are our Head-start ambassadors. They are all excellent ‘ Playground Buddies’ – looking out for those who might need a friend to play with or helping children to resolve any disagreements. They always ensure that everyone in our school has a happy break and lunchtime playtime.

As our Playground Buddies are also the Head-start team, they continually look at ways we as a school can help to develop and improve the mental health of all children in our school.

They work alongside the ‘Sports Crew’ providing  a range of playtime activities.

Anti-Bullying Ambassadors

These children help to share important anti-bullying messages throughout school by delivering special assemblies and creating posters which remind everyone about how to be a good friend.

Our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors are:

Y3: Ihsaan & Lilly

Y4: Jon & Scarlett

Y5: Harry & Lylah

Y6: Eli & Gabby

Reading Ambassadors

Our reading ambassadors help Mrs Muttrie-Wijesinghe to promote reading for pleasure in school. They share their love of reading with other children, help with the library and organise reading events in school.

Our Reading Ambassadors this year are:

Y3: Jon & Scarlett

Y4:Wealth & Henry

Y5: Noa & Isaac

Y6: Guy & Olivia
