Welcome from the Executive Headteacher

Welcome to St Gerard’s Catholic Primary School

‘Walk then as children of the light.’

Ephesians 5:8

A very warm welcome to St Gerard’s Catholic Primary School, Hemlington.

It is a privilege to welcome you to our school community and to share with you what makes St Gerard’s such a special place to learn, grow and belong. As a Catholic school within the family of Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust (NPCAT), our faith is at the heart of everything we do. We seek to follow the example of Jesus by nurturing a community built on love, respect, compassion, forgiveness and service to others.

At St Gerard’s, we believe that every child is a unique and precious gift from God. Our aim is to provide an environment where every child feels valued, safe and inspired to achieve their very best. We are committed to developing the whole child – academically, spiritually, socially, emotionally and physically – so that all of our children grow in confidence and become independent, courageous and responsible young people.

We have high expectations for every member of our school community. Through an engaging and ambitious curriculum, excellent teaching and strong relationships, we encourage our children to be curious, resilient and enthusiastic learners. We celebrate their individual God given talents and achievements while helping them to understand that success comes through perseverance, hard work and a willingness to learn from our experiences.

Our school is much more than a place of education it is a haven of calm. We are a family, working together with parents, carers, our parish and the wider community to give our children the strongest possible foundations for their future. We greatly value the partnership between home and school and believe that, by working together, we can ensure every child flourishes.

I hope that our website gives you a flavour of life at St Gerard’s and helps you to discover the many opportunities, experiences and successes that our children enjoy. Most importantly, I hope it reflects our commitment to creating a school where children are happy, loved, challenged and supported to become the very best version of themselves.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. We look forward to welcoming you to St Gerard’s Catholic Primary School and to working with you as part of our wonderful school community.

Mrs Coe
