School Uniform

At St. Gerard’s school we take great pride in our school uniform.

 

It provides a symbol of belonging and commitment to our school. Most importantly it makes us look and feel the same, all equal members of the same family. We ask all parents who send their children to our school to support the school
uniform policy. We believe that parents have a duty to send their children to
school correctly dressed and ready for their daily schoolwork.

School Uniform Requirements

We are proud of our school uniform which reflects the high expectations and provides a sense of identity and unity for all pupils. Children are expected to wear the correct school uniform at all times.

Early Years Foundation Stage (Reception & Nursery):
• White polo shirt
• Royal blue sweatshirt / cardigan
• Royal blue or black jogging bottoms (nursery only)
• Grey / charcoal trousers / (joggers / leggings-nursery only)
• Grey / charcoal trousers / skirt / pinafore or grey & blue tartan
skirt / pinafore
• Plain black shoes with velcro fastenings – no buckles or laces
• Wellies (to be kept in school)

Year 1 to Year 6:
• White long or short-sleeved shirt
• Grey school trousers
• Plain grey or blue tartan skirt
• Grey or grey and blue tartan pinafore
• Royal blue jumper or cardigan
• School tie
• Grey / black / white socks
• Grey / black tights

•Black school shoes- trainers are not permitted

Summer (from Easter to July – as an optional school uniform may be worn)
• Blue and white gingham dress
• White, grey or black ankle socks
• White polo shirt
• Grey trousers or shorts
• Black school shoes – black trainers are not permitted
There are a number of optional school branded items which include our school logo – theme along with school ties, are available from Lollipops.

PE Kit Requirements

• Royal blue St Gerard’s PE kit
• Plain navy blue or black PE shorts (no branded / sports labels allowed)
• Plain black or navy blue tracksuit bottoms for the winter months (no branded / sports labels allowed)
• School cardigan or jumper
• Navy blue school hoodie (no branded / sports labels allowed)
• Plain navy blue or black hoodie / zipper
• Black or white plimsolls and/or trainers
Children should come to school dressed in the appropriate PE kit on their specified PE days.

 

Jewellery

Schools have a duty of care to ensure students are able to participate actively
without unnecessarily endangering themselves or those working around them.
On health and safety grounds we do not allow children to wear jewellery in our
school.

In line with guidance from The Association for Physical Education (afPE)
children are required to remove watches during PE lessons to prevent them from
causing injury.

The school advises parents who wish their children to have their ears pierced to
do so at the beginning of the school summer holidays.

Hair

● all hairstyles should be in keeping with our smart school uniform;
● hair that is longer than shoulder length should always be tied back;
● hair bands, ribbons/bows or ornaments should be simple;
● make up or nail varnish should not be worn to school.

Footwear

● Suitable, plain and unbranded black footwear should be worn.
● Platform soles or high heels are not permitted.
